Ten-year-old Anni lives on a small island, Kihnu, in the far north of the Baltic Sea. On Kihnu, islanders keep old traditions and ways of life. Girls and women wear red or blue head scarves and skirts to show when they’re happy or sad, children learn traditional dances and songs at school, and the community often gets together to sing and dance in celebration. This gem captures the beauty of the island’s special culture through the eyes of a child who loves life on Kihnu and can’t imagine ever leaving.
