The 10th EstDocs Short Film Competition continues to be the only international short film contest of its kind to focus on Estonian-themed content. The EstDocs Short Film Competition has a robust online presence during and after the festival where films are viewed and shared long after the festival closes its curtains for the year. Award-winning films and honorary mentions are eligible for monetary prizes and will be featured at the EstDocs Documentary Film Festival Gala in October.

Maximum 7 Minutes + Credits Maximum 15 Seconds

Content & Style

  • 'Live Action' or Animation
  • Connection to Estonia or Estonians
  • Must be a Documentary or Docudrama
  • Has not been screened anywhere prior to October 19, 2018

Categories

  • Amateurs
  • Professionals
The Professional Category winner is chosen by the independent jury. The Amateur Category winner is chosen by our sponsor Tartu College. The independent jury has the discretion to create or eliminate award categories. Festival organizers and/or the jury reserve the right to assign submitted films to any category deemed appropriate.

Format

Any common delivery format and container can be used, but DVD, Blu-ray or H.264 codec in MP4 container is preferred. No submission materials will be returned.

Due Date

To be received in Toronto no later than  October 1st 2018

Prizes

Total prize pot is $2,800 (CDN). The audience award winner receives $300. The jury(s) reserve the right to limit the number of prizes (or not award any prizes at all), depending on the quality of the submissions.
